A collectible bought today is really just a static picture plus a transfer log nobody looks at. The picture never changes no matter what happens to it, and the years of history it accumulates by being bought, sold, and held sit unread on the chain. This describes a way for the picture itself to change based on the current block height and its own ownership history, so the object is genuinely different at a different time or in different hands.
